Congratulations on the purchase of your new trailer! We have some tips for you to help you take care of its proper storage.
We recommend storing the trailer indoors or covered. If you do not plan to use the trailer for an extended period of time, it is essential to protect it from the elements, especially those that cause corrosion of the steel and accelerate aging of the tires and/or tarpaulin. If you don't have the option of storing the trailer under a canopy, position the trailer on the drawbar so that the surface of the tarp is at an angle that will allow rain or snow to run off. Remember that the trailer must be unloaded during this time.
Carefully wash and dry the trailer. If corrosion appears on any of the components after a period of time, protect the corroded areas with primer paint and then paint with zinc paint. If the trailer is parked for a long time, be sure to grease all components, regardless of the period of the last treatment. Rims and tires should also be thoroughly washed and dried. When storing an unused trailer for an extended period of time, move the trailer every 2 to 3 weeks so that the point of contact between the tire and the ground is in a different position. This will prevent the tires from deforming and maintain proper geometry. Regularly check the tire pressure and, if necessary, inflate the wheels to the correct value.
